[00:00:17] Caroline Blazovsky: Caroline. Hello, everybody.

[:

[00:00:21] Eric Goranson: No kid, man, I, I need a break and I'm heading out on vacation for a couple of days, which will be awesome. But what a busy weekend for me, I had Friday night, I had the, uh, Chris Stapleton concert Saturday went out and watched the NASCAR infinity car road, race out in the rain and then went and saw top.

[:

[00:00:47] Caroline Blazovsky: days, top gun. I don't agree. Everybody else thinks it's so great. I thought the beginning was

[:

[00:00:59] Caroline Blazovsky: but I'm [00:01:00] like, I don't know. I thought it was slow.

[:

[00:01:06] Eric Goranson: then again, it had me hooked in from start to finish.

[:

[00:01:15] Eric Goranson: I don't, I, I don't, I, I don't want to make a, uh, I don't want to make top gun into a romcom.

[:

[00:01:24] Eric Goranson: No, I thought it was amazing. I thought it was amazing. See, there's the difference? Well, obviously a lot of people think it's amazing because it's breaking records on week one and weeks. I don't throw

[:

[00:01:42] Caroline Blazovsky: I showed up. I just

[:

[00:01:48] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. PR that's all PR great. The greatest movie ever.

[:

[00:02:07] Eric Goranson: But now that it's summertime, I want to talk about this. They released today salt and straw, which is here in my area. They are always mentioned by like Oprah and all the stuff out there as the, you know, the luxury ice cream. And we have these salt and straps. They're known for the wacky flavors that taste good.

[:

[00:02:51] Eric Goranson: You didn't think he even needed it until you tied this. So we, they start with fresh croissants, torn into bits, deep fried chicken fat [00:03:00] till crispy perf. So they take the deep fried chicken. So you got the crust, like, you know, like when you get KFC, Kentucky fried chicken, you have the chunks of, of course

[:

[00:03:12] Eric Goranson: in the middle of it.

[:

[00:03:31] Caroline Blazovsky: This is starting to sound like Eric's meals like pineapple mixed with Saracha mixed a little.

[:

[00:03:39] Eric Goranson: Eric. So the next one chocolate mussino cherry pie. Oh, so they've got chocolate, chocolate ice cream spiked with Pacino, Brandi, and hunks of rustic cherry slab pilots. Turn your phone off and

[:

[00:04:01] Eric Goranson: So it's got it's very cool.

[:

[00:04:27] Eric Goranson: There's my new one. I got to go to the store and get that today.

[:

[00:04:35] Eric Goranson: headache. So don't go too much. Debt, dive deep. I'll give you the three other flavors, deviled, egg custard, and smoked black. NA Roseanne water melon sorbet.

[:

[00:04:51] Caroline Blazovsky: God. This is amazing.

[:

[00:04:59] Caroline Blazovsky: [00:05:00] amazing. Get some ice cream people.

[:

[00:05:14] Eric Goranson: If we're talking about somebody that's listening, we don't want to make this personal, if you know what I mean? So he moved into a development and the houses are pretty close together. You know how these new Homeland developments are, where they come in and, and, and put a bunch of homes in. And they're small lot.

[:

[00:06:01] Eric Goranson: Now she's been coming over and knocking on his door and freaking out because he has a fire pit in the backyard and she doesn't like the smoke . So now they've got multiple HOA complaints going back and forth because the HOA is involved and there's no rules against that, but she's mounted all this stuff up above the top of the fence, like an old Bedford.

[:

[00:06:42] Caroline Blazovsky: terrible. So what's our gripe though, so. Sure. Great. But she doesn't want smoke, but she's allowed to get attract birds, which cause bird mites.

[:

[00:07:08] Eric Goranson: I came out there with the fire pit and so she was complaining that I guess in that county, the fire pit has to be, um, if it's within 15 feet of a fence, it has to be that wood fence has to have like.

[:

[00:07:41] Eric Goranson: They've asked, they've actually called the police. It's getting to be interesting and I feel bad for everybody involved, but. Everybody be good with your neighbors out there. Figure stuff out, talk it out. Don't have these kinds of battles because it's life is too stressful by itself. And to put in the battle to neighbors, I have the best neighbors in the world.

[:

[00:08:12] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. Now that sounds not

[:

[00:08:22] Caroline Blazovsky: coming down

[:

[00:08:38] Eric Goranson: I feel like

[:

[00:08:45] Eric Goranson: it. We are, this is the lowest it's been. Let me look here and see what's our, what's our annual, so our annual man, we're looking good here. Yeah, this is um, [00:09:00] yeah, the law.

[:

[00:09:35] Eric Goranson: Eight or nine bucks for, for OSB versus 30.

[:

[00:09:43] Eric Goranson: yeah. I mean, it's crazy how much now, now keep in mind. Let's, let's talk about how lumber futures prices work for a minute. This does not affect all lumber, but it's really the commodity-based staff such you're two by fours, your two by [00:10:00] sixes.

[:

[00:10:27] Eric Goranson: So if I do that and go back and look. And how that affects things a month ago, our lumber future prices were double what they were now. So I would expect to see, you know, we're going to be back down. Yeah. We'll see $12 plywood at this pace by the end of summer, because I think that's August, September delivery.

[:

[00:11:02] Caroline Blazovsky: So I should plan to build my deck in like September, October.

[:

[00:11:15] Eric Goranson: And then, uh, oh, there was another recall that I caught two out there. If you've got an electric luxury refrigerator with ice maker, take a look at it. They're putting, uh, there's some failures in the parts in the ice maker and it's putting plastic in the ice. Oh my gosh. They'd be calling me or injury hazard.

[:

[00:11:35] Caroline Blazovsky: don't do that. I've choked on plastic before. It's not a good plan. That's not good. Um, but speaking of the lumber prices going down, I filled up with the gas pump this morning, $5 and 8 cents a gallon. So we've got low building with high gas.

[:

[00:12:01] Eric Goranson: Five 40. A gallon here on gas. So, uh, you're about 50 cents cheaper a gallon than we are. The only

[:

[00:12:21] Caroline Blazovsky: And I know there's a couple places in California where it's $10 a gallon, but like, those are small. Like boutiquey kind of places where there aren't many gas stations, but yeah. $7 a gallon in San Francisco.

[:

[00:12:43] Eric Goranson: I went and filled up my SUV, which is diesel on Sunday. And that was insane because usually it's 50, 55 bucks to fill that thing up. 120 bucks to fill that thing up at 5 [00:13:00] 69, a gallon of diesel at Costco. And that's the cheapest diesel I can get around. And they're

[:

[00:13:15] Caroline Blazovsky: So it'll be interesting to see where this hits us, like how. Society cause, I mean, you can't expect something to go to $10 a gallon without implication. Right.

[:

[00:13:32] Caroline Blazovsky: I feel bad for these, the poor restaurant people that got killed during the pandemic.

[:

[00:13:41] Eric Goranson: Yeah. It's, it's insane, you know, and the problem is, is now you're going to see. Think about how that affects stuff. So anything you're getting trucked of course is expensive, but even your, your Uber ride to the airport, or, you know, ordering food for takeout to have it delivered to your house.

[:

[00:14:04] Caroline Blazovsky: Watch out people, Satan, those wallets.

[:

[00:14:17] Eric Goranson: We're going to see in many, generally across the U S we're going to see new home construction, come grinding to a halt and get slower because we've seen interest rates. I mean, we'll see interest rates on homes. I think by the next year, if we're not careful, it'll be eight, nine, 10%.

[:

[00:14:39] Caroline Blazovsky: You know, people are so used to this three, four, even 2%.

[:

[00:15:07] Eric Goranson: It's expensive. There's a lot of million dollar houses that are 2200 square foot houses that are, that are on a, less than a quarter acre size lot. That's a very generic, normal house. It's just an expensive neighborhood. But if you think about what the interest rates have done over the last couple of months to that, that has added with your typical, like 20% down payment, that's been crazy.

[:

[00:15:38] Caroline Blazovsky: And you're looking, we were just looking at, like, if you're paying, let's just say $600,000 for a house that your monthly payment will be around $5,000 a month, depending on you know, your taxes and all of that.

[:

[00:16:00] Eric Goranson: average. So I think what you're going to see is you're still going to have, see people moving out of crime areas. You're gonna see families moving out of crime areas, go into the burbs, getting places that they can raise their family and feel safer.

[:

[00:16:31] Eric Goranson: Wow. If I go, if I move, I'm going to be at eight, nine, 10%. Right now, that's not, I'm going to stay here. I'm going to make this house beautiful. Amazing. Awesome. And then when interest rates come back down again and then we'll

[:

[00:16:50] Caroline Blazovsky: Cause we're going to show you how to make it hot in there, make it good. Your house is going to be a sexy,

[:

[00:17:06] Eric Goranson: And more importantly, you can do it, right? So you get the money back out of some of that. When you go to sell it down the road,

[:

[00:17:39] Caroline Blazovsky: If you get a hydrogen

[:

[00:17:44] Caroline Blazovsky: know. But do you know this for sure? Like, do we know that these new cards blow up? That's what I thought it was my first and my first thought was like, I was going to blow up, but I don't know.

[:

[00:18:01] Eric Goranson: I mean, that's, that's my concern, right? I mean, you look at it's flammable, it's a gas, right. You know, of course you've got gasoline, that's fine. A wall and you see cars run around on propane. You see them running on natural gas, but that, that makes me nervous. That makes me nervous. You know, it's

[:

[00:18:30] Caroline Blazovsky: You know what makes me nervous thinking about charging my electric car while I'm sitting in it at one of the like high energy, you know, spots where you're sitting in that car while you are charging your vehicle, that EMF exposure to me must be crazy. That doesn't appeal to me. I think I'd go with the hydrogen car and take my chances.

[:

[00:19:13] Caroline Blazovsky: I think I'm going to get a hydrogen car.

[:

[00:19:21] Caroline Blazovsky: I think it's cool.

[:

[00:19:30] Caroline Blazovsky: it was, you were the one that reminded me of the Pinto's number when the Pinto's blew up. Got

[:

[00:19:41] Caroline Blazovsky: think about it.

[:

[00:19:47] Eric Goranson: Yeah. But then they're just going to make hydrogen more expensive.

[:

[00:19:57] Eric Goranson: It's just

[:

[00:20:07] Eric Goranson: Yeah, it

[:

[00:20:16] Eric Goranson: So the Hindenburg was originally designed to be filled with helium, but because of U S export restrictions on helium to Germany, it was instead filled with hydrogen

[:

[00:20:45] Caroline Blazovsky: So wait, what? There was a leak and then it

[:

[00:20:52] Caroline Blazovsky: Oh, so you can't use your cell phone and drive around in your hydrogen guards

[:

[00:20:57] Eric Goranson: I'm not saying that at all, but that's, you [00:21:00] know,

[:

[00:21:10] Caroline Blazovsky: like

[:

[00:21:24] Caroline Blazovsky: drive to San Francisco. How far is that?

[:

[00:21:32] Caroline Blazovsky: hold on Julie. I'm going out to get gas.

[:

[00:21:35] Eric Goranson: and forth. Yeah, I see it. Yeah. Which of course you don't have enough range for that. So, yeah. That's, I mean, that's awesome, but I I'm going to put that. I'll be honest. I'll put the hydrogen cars. Kind of when they used to be running the, uh, when you used to be able to get the flex fueled cars or run on the alcohol on the , it was interesting, but you could never find bumps for it or was 85% ethanol and 15% fuel.[00:22:00]

[:

[00:22:11] Eric Goranson: Nope. Nope. I'm good. I'm good. I don't need to, it's just one more thing. One more thing that I see being an issue, and I'll just say that you're contributing to mold everywhere by adding more, uh, more

[:

[00:22:30] Caroline Blazovsky: Diego. After hearing the voice of the deceased Jedi master Kwan gone, Jean

[:

[00:22:40] Caroline Blazovsky: take a bus. It exists.

[:

[00:22:55] Caroline Blazovsky: Eric has some of the greatest solutions. So if you're like me and my dad's hard to get [00:23:00] for, you got to check it out.

[:

[00:23:04] Eric Goranson: Even some, uh, even some, uh, new age stuff for the garage.

[:

[00:23:12] Eric Goranson: it's not hippie. You're not. Yeah, I know. And I was just kidding, but, and then our number two, we're going to be talking about dreams and. You know, designing that cool shower drain if you're doing a shower or even using it on your outside deck or driveway. So those cool linear drains, we'll be talking to a infinity drain.

[:

[00:23:33] Caroline Blazovsky: you learn a lot, like, I didn't think you think what's a drain. What do I need to know about a drain, but there is a lot to know, and there's a lot to know in your design. So I learned a lot on that show. And that's that's.

[:

[00:23:55] Eric Goranson: All right, Carolyn, should we call it a day? I'm going to get packed. I'm going to head to the beach. Lucky you [00:24:00] exactly. I'll take it. I need the break. Do you need the. Oh, wait. You've had a break all week. I'm planning

[:

[00:24:11] Caroline Blazovsky: I'm
