Speaker C:Home.
Speaker B:It's everything you need to know without the fluff.
Speaker B:Now let's get this show started with our host, Eric G. And John Dudley.
Speaker A:Welcome to the around the House show.
Speaker A:Your trusted sews for home improvement information.
Speaker A:Johnny, how we doing today, brother?
Speaker A:Good to see you today.
Speaker C:Yeah, I'm good, man.
Speaker C:How you doing?
Speaker A:Good, man.
Speaker A:Excited.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's the weekend after Turkey Day.
Speaker A:We're all fat and happy, feeling good.
Speaker A:You're like, oh, it's Thanksgiving because you're in Colombia.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And I'm finally out of the mountains, so I'm not wearing four layers of clothes.
Speaker C:I'm actually.
Speaker C:It's kind of hot today.
Speaker A:Nice, man.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:Now that we've kind of all got our.
Speaker A:Our bit of family out of our hair, and it's the holidays and we're full on into it, I thought, let's talk about the Black Friday deals that were happening over the weekend here.
Speaker A:That, and the hard part with this is I can't just say, hey, come down to my local business, because people don't care what's going on in Portland when you're in Long Island, New York, or Hawaii or whoever else is catching us on the radio or podcast.
Speaker A:So I figured almost everybody's got Amazon, so if you want to find it at your local store, feel free.
Speaker A:But I thought, let's grab it on Amazon and come up with our top 10 buys.
Speaker A:Because I did a bunch of digging here to see what I could find on Amazon, and these are the best deals I could find out there.
Speaker A:Maybe you can buy something for dear old dad or mom or your brother or sister or heck, you're the only one doing it.
Speaker A:Buy something nice for yourself.
Speaker C:Either way, that dive on Amazon is a deep rabbit hole, my friend.
Speaker A:Oh, my gosh.
Speaker A:I was doomed scrolling for hours on this.
Speaker A:God.
Speaker A:Oh, that's cool.
Speaker A:How do I cut it down to 10?
Speaker A:Find out here.
Speaker A:We'll find out.
Speaker A:So let's dive in, brother.
Speaker A:The first one here that I saw was a really good deal, and this is where you can get stuff.
Speaker A:There's a lot of products out there.
Speaker A:And, you know, this too.
Speaker A:But there's a lot of products out there with a minimum advertised price that they can say, that's, hey, we.
Speaker A:That's why when you go around the stores and you're looking at something, you're like, why is it always $99?
Speaker A:It's because they can't sell it any less than their dealer agreement.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker A:That's the bottom price.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:With appliances, you're like, everything's the same.
Speaker A:That's because they sell it that way.
Speaker A:But this is that time of year.
Speaker A:We can save some money.
Speaker A:So on Amazon, I found these.
Speaker A:Lutron Diva smart dimmer switch.
Speaker A:And this is the Casita lighting.
Speaker A:It's the hub.
Speaker A:This is the perfect smart home starter pack for people.
Speaker A:And what I like about it is it works pretty much just about in any house.
Speaker A:And the other thing I like about it, too, is you can save some money, too.
Speaker A:And so Lutron, to me, for the DIY homeowner grade, is like the perfect kind of starting point because it's really simple.
Speaker A:Once you wired up like a regular switch, now you can sit there and I like it for exterior lights, Johnny.
Speaker A:So let's say you got a porch light and you're tired of turning off and on, or you don't want to mess with it, or you leave it on all night and you're like, oh, man, I wanted to turn that off again.
Speaker A:Right?
Speaker A:You want to save some money, you punch in on the settings on it and go, I want this to turn off a half hour after sunrise or Turn on and 45 minutes before sunset, whatever.
Speaker A:You set it, and it automatically knows where it is.
Speaker A:It's smart.
Speaker A:You can grab your phone, and what's cool is you can turn that off and on from your phone anywhere in the world.
Speaker A:So it's cool.
Speaker C:So nice.
Speaker A:And for 99 bucks, it gets you the switch.
Speaker A:It gets you the.
Speaker A:Their little hub that runs all the rest of them in the house.
Speaker A:So it's a great starter deal.
Speaker A:And instead of 125 bucks, it's 99.95.
Speaker A:So that's a pretty good deal there.
Speaker C:It's like a cool parent gift, right?
Speaker C:It's cool for anybody, but it's like a thing where, like, your parents would be, whoa.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker C:Really?
Speaker C:Holy crap.
Speaker C:I can actually turn the stupid outdoor light off automatically.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:It's crazy.
Speaker A:And so it's.
Speaker A:For me, it was awesome because I could sit there and change things when I'm traveling.
Speaker A:For instance, I can look on and turn the light on, turn the light off.
Speaker A:And if you do it inside.
Speaker A:Here's the fun part.
Speaker A:If you want to mess with the kids when they're in the living room watching tv.
Speaker A:And your other part in the house and they're watching some Stephen King novel, you could flicker the lights really cool.
Speaker C:Get all ghosty on them.
Speaker C:Oh, yeah.
Speaker A:You can sit there and just boom.
Speaker C:And they're terrible, man.
Speaker C:Really fun.
Speaker A:You can really mess with them.
Speaker A:Mess with them a lot, which is fun.
Speaker C:So, yeah, everybody needs a little childhood trauma.
Speaker C:Come on.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Got nothing to complain about if you don't have any trauma there.
Speaker A:So let's have some fun with it.
Speaker A:So let's have some fun.
Speaker A:And that's.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker A:To me, it's fun to play around with that stuff.
Speaker A:You're just having fun with them and who cares?
Speaker C:So they'll be fine.
Speaker A:Yeah, they'll be fine.
Speaker A:Builds them stronger at that point.
Speaker A:Now the next one here, I thought is a deal for a starter toolkit.
Speaker A:And Amazon's got this one locked in Craftsman V20 cordless drill driver kit, half inch battery charger included.
Speaker A:69 bucks.
Speaker C:Yeah, dude, I saw that one on the list.
Speaker C:I was like, what?
Speaker C:20 volt and half inch?
Speaker C:Like, it's.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:For 69 bucks.
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, it's cool.
Speaker A:What I like about that is that one, it saves you some serious money.
Speaker A:Two, it's Craftsman, which if you take it out of the case, it's just DeWalt on the inside.
Speaker A:It's made in the same factory.
Speaker C:Is.
Speaker C:I'm gonna date myself a little bit, but I didn't.
Speaker C:Craftsman always have like lifetime guarantees on all their tools.
Speaker C:So like wrenches and stuff.
Speaker C:I remember that.
Speaker A:Stuff.
Speaker A:Yeah, so pliers, all that stuff.
Speaker A:Back in the day when there were Sears stores around, there might be a one around, but yeah, they sold that whole brand to Stanley Black and Decker.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker A:So Stanley Black and Decker, which is the parent company for DeWalt, it's now Craftsman, all that kind of stuff.
Speaker C:Like I said date myself a little bit.
Speaker A:You are.
Speaker A:But that's okay.
Speaker A:We all.
Speaker C: ool set with my Sears card in: Speaker C:Eric.
Speaker C:Okay.
Speaker C:So I could work on my 74 Blazer.
Speaker A:Nice.
Speaker A:Minus 77.
Speaker A:I know.
Speaker A:Like, that is.
Speaker A:I know what's working on those.
Speaker C:You know, you need tools.
Speaker C:A lot of them.
Speaker A:Yeah, a lot of them.
Speaker A:But really, come on.
Speaker A:For 69 bucks, that's.
Speaker A:It's regular 99.
Speaker A:And I thought it was a good deal at 99, but it comes with a, you know, a 2amp hour battery.
Speaker A:So it's that battery is worth more than 69 bucks if you jump on the website.
Speaker C:So that tells you that's a great deal.
Speaker A:And I like that.
Speaker A:So that's a cool one right there.
Speaker A:Before we go out to break, I thought we'd jump on one more here.
Speaker A:It's another Craftsman.
Speaker A:And by the way, nobody's paying me to be doing these.
Speaker A:This is not sponsored stuff.
Speaker A:This is stuff that I go through and went, that's a good deal.
Speaker A:So Craftsman oscillating tool.
Speaker A:So it's your basic oscillating tool.
Speaker A:This is a plug in one, but it's 3amp, includes a universal tool free accessory system, blade, sandpaper, and tool bag.
Speaker A:Now it's corded, but it's 41% off at 70 bucks.
Speaker A:So 69.99.
Speaker A:Wow.
Speaker A:And that's.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:Some of those handy tools you just always need and you never knew you needed it for the 17 things you find to do with it.
Speaker A:Dude, seriously.
Speaker A:And it's corded.
Speaker A:And I'm not the biggest corded fan, but if you're on a budget or if you're just doing stuff around the house, who cares?
Speaker A:But really, 41% off for that.
Speaker A:And it comes with the blades and the sandpaper and all that stuff.
Speaker A:That is basic DIY toolkit.
Speaker A:From cutting off a bolt to sanding, to scraping, they make a blade for everything.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's my favorite demo tool tool, by the way.
Speaker C:Really?
Speaker A:Here's why.
Speaker A:If I want to cut apart dynamite excavator.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:That works well too.
Speaker A:But really, when you're sitting there and you want to just cut something apart without ruining the wood, you want to just cut the nails right off.
Speaker A:Put a metal blade in there, you go right between there.
Speaker A:Saws all get the job done if you're throwing the wood away.
Speaker A:But if you want to be a little more surgical versus a little more sledgehammer esque, you can really cut stuff off quick.
Speaker C:Nice.
Speaker A:Now, I saw a hack that was a little shocking the other day that I don't know if I could do it, but I'm gonna try it on mine.
Speaker A:They come out of the tool and they offset, right?
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:They've got a little bit of a L shape and command.
Speaker A:Guy put two blades next to each other so there's a half inch between them.
Speaker A:He reversed one and then he was cutting out drywall to put electrical in the wall.
Speaker A:Wall.
Speaker C:Ah, nice.
Speaker A:And on the drywall.
Speaker A:And I'm like, that's kind of trick.
Speaker A:I don't know if that worked, but I like It.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Slick idea.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:I was like, all right, I see what you're doing.
Speaker A:That's trick.
Speaker A:Here comes my electrician joke.
Speaker A:Right where you go.
Speaker A:Yeah, that's too fast and probably too clean.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:How I can't justify my cost when I can do it that easy.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:It's funny.
Speaker A:I saw on one of the electricians Instagram sites they had a new tool that was.
Speaker A:Came out by my.
Speaker A:By Milwaukee.
Speaker A:And it was a push broom for electricians.
Speaker A:And I just thought that was freaking hilarious.
Speaker C:Nice.
Speaker A:Insert construction jokes here.
Speaker A:All right, John.
Speaker A:And we come back.
Speaker A:I got some really cool ones here and I wanted to talk as well here about some projects or some products that we can give to the relatives.
Speaker A:Maybe what we can give and maybe what we can't give.
Speaker A:That might be a bad idea.
Speaker A:Let's talk about that.
Speaker A:When around the House returns, don't change that dial.
Speaker B:To find out more information, head to aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker B:Don't change that dial around the House.
Speaker B:We'll be right back after these important messages.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show, your trusted source for home improvement information.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining us today, guys.
Speaker A:Guess what?
Speaker A:We've been talking holidays here, but if you want to find out more about us, head over to aroundthehouse online.com and we're gonna have this list up here as well on the website.
Speaker A:We should have it up there by the time you hear this.
Speaker A:And here's one other disclaimer I want to put in here.
Speaker A:Some of these items could be totally sold out by the time you hear this, especially on the radio.
Speaker A:This stuff can air over 24 hours.
Speaker A:So these sales, they could be gone.
Speaker A:They could be there.
Speaker A:I have no control over that.
Speaker A:So if this deal is gone on Amazon, take a look, it might come up.
Speaker A:We'll have the links there.
Speaker A:But it's just hard to say.
Speaker A:Some of these things are so good, they could sell a thousand truckloads and they had 900 and all of a sudden now they're out.
Speaker A:So I want to blame it on you.
Speaker A:You never know.
Speaker A:So you never know.
Speaker A:But if anything, head down to your local home improvement store, your independent contractor store down there, wherever you buy your stuff and take a look and they what they got on the shelf if it's not on Amazon because quite frankly prefer you give those guys the business anyway.
Speaker A:So maybe this can inspire you on the list.
Speaker A:The next one here, man.
Speaker A:Johnny.
Speaker A:This is probably one of my favorite buys.
Speaker A:And I tell you what, I like cool, fun tools.
Speaker A:And this is a Good one.
Speaker A:Bora speed horse sawhorses.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Nice.
Speaker A:These things are so tough.
Speaker A:I've got these here.
Speaker A:I'm pretty hard on sawhorses.
Speaker A: seconds and they hold: Speaker C:Wow.
Speaker A:And they fold up super easy.
Speaker A:You can make.
Speaker A:And they've got adjustable heights so you can really do some stuff with it.
Speaker A:It makes it super easy to work with.
Speaker A:I absolutely love these line.
Speaker A:I think I bought them 79 or 80 bucks a piece at Home Depot.
Speaker A:They have a two pack for 107.33.
Speaker C:Nice.
Speaker A:And guys, when you want to find this stuff, head over to aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker A:We'll have the list up here on the website so you can find it and I'll put a link up on social media as well.
Speaker A:But 107, 33, 37% off regular 170 bucks.
Speaker C:That's a killer deal considering how many I saw it in half a year.
Speaker A:That's like the Stanley.
Speaker C:90%.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:The bad part is once you cut those in half or cut enough of them, they just start to turn into yellow.
Speaker A:Yeah, they just turn into jello.
Speaker A:So absolute garbage.
Speaker A:These here, you'll know when you hit that heavy steel with that saw blade.
Speaker C:Yeah, this is a big difference.
Speaker A:Big difference.
Speaker A:It will let you know, you'll go, oh yeah, that's what it is.
Speaker A:That's what it is.
Speaker A:And let's see, let's go back to the list here.
Speaker A:That's one of my favorites right there.
Speaker A:And when we're getting into things like this, depending on who this is for, that's a, that's actually a great gift there for family, for dad, mom, whoever out there is handy.
Speaker A:That is a good one.
Speaker A:Now if we go to the next one on the list here, this is another good one.
Speaker A:And I like this one because who doesn't like home security?
Speaker A:And I think home security can be fun when you're dealing with this stuff.
Speaker A:And this is an indoor camera, right?
Speaker A:This isn't the one like we'll talk about the other one here later.
Speaker A:But this one here I think is cool because what you can do with this is, it's an indoor camera.
Speaker A:So you could put it in inside, plug it in so you can plug it into your computer or wherever else or wifi.
Speaker A:And this thing here will rock for you.
Speaker A:And what I think is cool about this, it's cheap, 39.99.
Speaker A:And this is for a 2K indoor security camera.
Speaker A:But the cool thing is you can steer it so you can pan tilt it two way.
Speaker A:Audio, night vision, person tracking.
Speaker A:So I think what's cool for this.
Speaker A:What did I do with mine?
Speaker A:I had mine in my shop so I can see if anybody had gotten into my shop.
Speaker A:I could zoom around with it.
Speaker A:So if somebody is poking around the tools, they weren't hiding.
Speaker A:I mounted up the ceiling and then I could see everything that's going on.
Speaker A:And for 40 bucks, really easy to work with and fast supports.
Speaker A:Apple HomeKit, Alexa, IFTT, all that good stuff.
Speaker A:So it is a super smart way to go cheap tracking of your tools.
Speaker A:If it's going in the garage, you could put it.
Speaker A:Be careful, guys.
Speaker A:Privacy concerns are always big.
Speaker A:Let's be honest.
Speaker A:We don't want to be putting this any creepy places.
Speaker A:But if you've got grandma out in the living room and you're trying to keep an eye on her and you want to make sure, get her permission.
Speaker A:And hey, let's put a camera in the living room.
Speaker A:That way you can talk to us, we can talk to you if you've got an issue.
Speaker A:Might not be a bad way to go, but super, super easy to work with and easy to operate right off the app.
Speaker A:So again, super easy.
Speaker A:40 bucks.
Speaker A:I like it.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Nice.
Speaker C:And who doesn't like getting a camera?
Speaker C:Come on.
Speaker A:Come on.
Speaker A:That's a fun one.
Speaker A:That's a fun one.
Speaker A:Before we go out here, I tell you what, Johnny, this is another one of those that, you know, you get get into these lists.
Speaker A:And I tell you what, I really got stuck on this list because I just kept going down the list.
Speaker A:This one here, I can tell you what this is their other outdoor camera.
Speaker A:And the thing that I liked about this is it has 4K night vision.
Speaker C:Wow.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Except when I've got people poking around my hot tub naked.
Speaker A:Let's put it that way.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Not as cool.
Speaker C:Yeah, I apologize for that.
Speaker A:Wasn't you.
Speaker A:Actually, I'm not entirely sure who it was.
Speaker A:We'll leave it at that.
Speaker A:But it wasn't me and it was in my hot tub.
Speaker A:It's always interesting when you're on a vacation and you can see what's going on in your hot tub.
Speaker A:But anyway, a Cora 4 megapixel camera.
Speaker A:It's the hub, so it helps with that.
Speaker A:Pro wi fi true color night vision security camera, outdoor.
Speaker A:And all I'll say was the full moon was out last that night when I had that video camera running full moon.
Speaker A:And this works really well.
Speaker A:And it has notifications.
Speaker A:You can set it up 119 bucks.
Speaker A:But it is meant to go out in the weather, so it's a great way.
Speaker A:It has.
Speaker A:And actually what alerted me was I had on my phone, I was sitting there and my phone, I had it in sleep mode and all of a sudden I was getting these push notifications saying person lingering.
Speaker C:I said, I'm sorry, dude.
Speaker A:Yeah, the camera was just hanging around.
Speaker A:It was just doing its thing.
Speaker A:And so we're sitting there going, hey, there's somebody standing around outside.
Speaker A:That was on the back of my shop where the, where that was.
Speaker A:So for me, somebody hanging around the back of my shop is who's trying to break in the glass door in the back, right?
Speaker A:Oh no, I'm four hours away from home.
Speaker A:So I'm, I'm out.
Speaker A:And sure enough, yeah, there was somebody using my hot tub.
Speaker A:But this is a great way to do that.
Speaker A:If you want to keep track of stuff going outside.
Speaker A:You can watch animals, the deer, the elk, the raccoons, the mice, whatever you're trying to check out there.
Speaker A:It's really a smart way to go and I think it's a really good buy for what that is.
Speaker C:And yeah, it's super cheap.
Speaker C:And having those notifications is super cheap, handy and important as proven in your case.
Speaker A:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker A:And again, works through a homekit secure video.
Speaker A:There's a couple different ways you can do this, which I like.
Speaker A:So they make this camera with kind of two options if you go down.
Speaker A:And it's just a really good way to go.
Speaker A:I think it's one of those things that when you start looking at these expense.
Speaker A:It used to be very expensive to do this and now you could put a couple of these cameras around and it's super cheap and they've got a couple different configurations.
Speaker A:So make sure you look to make sure that you've got the right one for what you're doing.
Speaker A:But I tell you what, they've got wifi versions and so then they've got the poie support as well.
Speaker A:So you can go a couple different ways with it.
Speaker A:But I tell you what, it's a great gift and especially if you got kids moving out and you want to do some secure stuff.
Speaker A:And I think it's first time homeowner, great stuff to have.
Speaker A:All right, Johnny, let's run out to break real quick.
Speaker A:I have got some serious big savings here.
Speaker A:We're taking like hundreds of dollars off for pretty inexpensive stuff coming up which is going to be super cool.
Speaker A:We'll talk about that just as soon as around the house returns.
Speaker A:Don't Change that dial.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show, your trusted source for home improvement.
Speaker A:But I'm Eric G. Johnny Dudley and I are sitting here talking about some of our favorite things that we're finding here on a deep dive of Amazon for those Black Friday sales, holiday gifts, whatever you're looking for.
Speaker A:It's a great time to buy tools and things for around the house because sometimes that they just give these things out way cheaper than what you would normally see any time of the year.
Speaker A:And before we get into the list, John, I do want to thank one special station on our radio network work because this is our Last weekend on AM860 the answer Portland, our hometown station here in Portland, K Pam and our friends over there and I just want to say thank you to them.
Speaker A:We are actually returning to where around the House was originated from 37 years ago, which is over on 101 KXL in Portland.
Speaker A:And we are changing back over to that and we're going back home.
Speaker A:But there was been a number of years now that salem media and 860 the answer Portland has really helped us out.
Speaker A:When KXL was going through its struggles with Alpha Media and their bankruptcy, all of us weekend hosts, one weekend or one Friday got the boot and KXL came in and things happen.
Speaker A:This is radio.
Speaker A:We went over to KPAM and those guys really helped us out over the last, geez, seven, eight years, however long it's been.
Speaker A:And my thanks to all the amazing people over at Salem Media for helping us through over there.
Speaker A:And we are now changing back over to the OG station from 10 to noon on Saturdays on KXL Oregon, much bigger footprint.
Speaker A:So you guys out and out at the coast out in the Dalles that we're having sometimes a problem on AM getting us now you can get us on FM or just the podcast.
Speaker A:So we'll be coming back over there.
Speaker A:It's gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker A:Wanted to touch on that one because my sincerest thank you to Chris Kelly and all the people over there that I've been working with over the years at Salem Media.
Speaker A:They've been great.
Speaker A:Johnny, let's talk about the list.
Speaker A:You need this, please, you need this one.
Speaker A:This next one has got your name written all over it.
Speaker C:Dude, I want it actually.
Speaker C:Okay, 54 off.
Speaker C:It's.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's about as good as it's gonna get.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And yeah.
Speaker C:So always trying to be self sufficient, deep cell battery guy.
Speaker C:Just leave me alone.
Speaker C:And I'm thinking these I could probably still record music and keep a light on for the dogs.
Speaker C:And that's really all I need to cook with gas.
Speaker C:Come on.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:So look it up.
Speaker A:This is made by our friend.
Speaker C:I love that it comes with the panel.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So this is a jackery solar generator.
Speaker A:A thousand version, thousand watt.
Speaker A:Basically it's solar generator Model thousand version two with 200 watt solar panel.
Speaker A: And then it has a: Speaker A:1500 watt AC, 100 watt USB C output, one hour fast charge for outdoor off grid living.
Speaker A:RV or emergency.
Speaker A:54% off for 599 regularly.
Speaker A:1300 bucks, dude.
Speaker C:Yeah, that's a steal, man.
Speaker A:So it's all you need.
Speaker A:It's got the solar panel that folds up into its own little case.
Speaker A:And then you've got this power station here that takes.
Speaker A:You can plug in three different 110 outlets into it.
Speaker A:On the AC side, if you want to go DC and just run everything off of USB C or USB A, you can do that as well.
Speaker A:But these things are so cool.
Speaker A:I have a version of this myself.
Speaker A:I got to get back from my kid actually late.
Speaker A:Backup power.
Speaker C:You know, it's cool.
Speaker C:You know it's cool when the kid steals it.
Speaker A:She loves taking it for big concerts and stuff because when they're camping.
Speaker C:Yeah, of course.
Speaker C:Oh yeah.
Speaker C:You can plug a blender into that.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:Margarita Day.
Speaker A:See, you're all good.
Speaker A:You're all good.
Speaker A:But what a deal for 5.99.
Speaker C:No, that's slick.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:So if you want to find out more about this thing, guys, just head over to our website aroundthehouse online dot com.
Speaker A:We'll have the list over there so you can.
Speaker A:With links and all that stuff so you don't have to worry about trying to write it down.
Speaker A:Now the next one here, that one's a really good deal.
Speaker A:With that kind of money off of it.
Speaker A:The next one here I think is really important, especially if you've got that contractor.
Speaker A:And I'm going to share this one with you here, Johnny, because this is funny.
Speaker A:This is one of those ones, a contractor that never shows up at the job site that you're like, hey, why aren't they here?
Speaker A:It's either two things.
Speaker A:They had a flat tire or they couldn't jumpstart their vehicle.
Speaker A:So this is one of those handheld batteries.
Speaker A:That's the car jump starter.
Speaker A: So it's a: Speaker C:Wow, man, that's slick.
Speaker C:Look at that.
Speaker A:So all you do is just plug it in the wall, charge it up, and then you just come over, set it right on there and give it a second.
Speaker A:It'll tell you when to go.
Speaker A:And you can charge your phone and any other thing off of it.
Speaker A:But, man, I tell you what, these can be a lifesaver when you're having electrical issues or you got that car that's just a little pesky and doesn't want to start.
Speaker A:And especially in the cold.
Speaker A:I think it's a great thing.
Speaker A:This is a great tool to put in somebody's their go bag or their winter weather driving bag.
Speaker A:Or I have one of these like this in my bag that I keep in my truck.
Speaker A:That's just that emergency kit with the first aid kit and some of the stuff in there.
Speaker C:So you've known me for a lot of years, Dage.
Speaker C:Some of the cars I'm on, 67 Volkswagen buses, things like that.
Speaker C:You know what it's like to have to wake up a freaking roommate at 5:00am and go, Dude, I need a chump.
Speaker C:Sorry.
Speaker A:Sorry.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:Exactly.
Speaker A:And 40 bucks.
Speaker A:$40.58.
Speaker A:57% off.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:I wish I would have had one of those pretty much my entire life.
Speaker A:Dude, I got one in literally in my toolbox in the truck because.
Speaker A:Just so nice to have.
Speaker A:And if somebody else needs to jump in your biome, you don't have to get all the.
Speaker A:You don't have to get your car jammed in there.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Let me get the cables.
Speaker A:The cables aren't long enough.
Speaker C:No.
Speaker C:That's super slick, man.
Speaker C:Took us long enough to come up with that one.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And come on, 40 bucks?
Speaker C:Geez, no.
Speaker A:What's a tow truck gonna cost you to come out and jump it over that?
Speaker C:I was just gonna say if that saves your butt one time.
Speaker C:Dude, it's.
Speaker C:You've told your money.
Speaker A:It's 4,000amps.
Speaker A:There's plenty of power in that.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:If it saves you an hour trying to track down a jump start or the embarrassment of asking somebody.
Speaker C:I used to be really shy about that in the parking lot or something like.
Speaker C:Oh, man, I don't want to bug somebody for a joke.
Speaker C:Yeah, no, for four bucks.
Speaker C:Handy in my veto sheet.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:And by the way, it's going to save you an hour and a half because I don't care if you're calling AAA, a tow truck, whatever else.
Speaker A:It's 90 minutes for somebody to get to you.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:No matter where you are.
Speaker C:That's almost as good as new socks, this one.
Speaker C:Here you go.
Speaker C:That's my favorite on the list right there.
Speaker A:All right, There we go.
Speaker A:40 bucks.
Speaker A:Easy peasy.
Speaker C:All right, now you know what I want.
Speaker A:Dude, that's awesome.
Speaker A:That's awesome.
Speaker A:Now, the next one here I think is equally fun.
Speaker A:This one might be a good one for you.
Speaker A:All right, you ready for this one, Johnny?
Speaker A:Here we go.
Speaker C:Everything to do with power is a good one for me, it would seem.
Speaker A:This is gonna get better.
Speaker A:This one's getting better.
Speaker A:Check out these Bose Comfort earbuds.
Speaker A:Quiet Comfort earbuds.
Speaker C:I don't want to talk about this one.
Speaker C:I've got mine in right now, and I paid $400 for mine, so I'm a little irked by this one.
Speaker C:$29 bit.
Speaker C:And mine are 3 years old.
Speaker C:I'm like, ah.
Speaker A:So these are the Bose QuietComfort earbuds.
Speaker A:True wireless Bluetooth earbuds with active noise cancellation, a mic, USB, C charging, IPX4 ratings.
Speaker A:So if you drop them in the toilet, they're good for a minute, which.
Speaker C:I've done more than twice.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:Who hasn't?
Speaker A:Who hasn't?
Speaker C:I'm serious.
Speaker C:I did, like, more than twice.
Speaker C:I've dropped mine in the toilet.
Speaker C:They're still working after three and a half years.
Speaker C:And I will tell you, these things are magical.
Speaker C:Like, the first time I put them in, felt like somebody put a vacuum in my ear.
Speaker C:I tested them out in a club with a booming DJ going.
Speaker C:I was like, oh, my Lord.
Speaker C:I had no idea this was possible.
Speaker C:Yeah, just go silent like a library in your head.
Speaker C:You're like, you gotta be kidding me.
Speaker C:Yeah, they're amazing.
Speaker C:Amazing.
Speaker C:For 129 bucks, I'll buy two pair because my dog always likes to eat one pair.
Speaker A:Oh, of course.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:28 off.
Speaker A:100 regular.
Speaker A:179 bucks at the Bow store here on Amazon.
Speaker A:That is killer.
Speaker C:Yeah, no, those are amazing colors.
Speaker A:If you want the black ones, these are the blue ones.
Speaker A:They have pink, they got white.
Speaker A:Whatever you want.
Speaker C:And if you get those for anybody on your list, you're getting a giant hug because they're awesome.
Speaker C:I get a little Crackle Mine once in a while, but I think it's just because they're old.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker A:Absolutely.
Speaker C:And a couple visits in the toilet, and then 90 times I've dropped the case on the floor and they bounce across the room.
Speaker A:Brutal.
Speaker A:Brutal.
Speaker C:I'm pretty good at breaking stuff.
Speaker C:I fixed my phone screen the other day for the 17th time and cracked it in two days again, like, I just harbor stuff now.
Speaker A:You and I both.
Speaker A:Hey, when we come back here, Johnny, let's run out to break.
Speaker A:We've run over.
Speaker A:We'll talk about the last bits on the list and of course, maybe the presents you presents you might not want to get.
Speaker A:Family members.
Speaker A:We'll do that just as soon as around the House returns.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show, your trusted source for home improvement information.
Speaker A:If you're just joining us, Johnny Tudley and I have been sitting here talking about really cool Black Friday sales gift ideas, that kind of stuff for people out there.
Speaker A:If you're out shopping this weekend, we got one here and we're going out to break.
Speaker A:We were talking about how those mobile jump starters can really save your behind right when you need to, especially if it's cold outside.
Speaker A:That battery just didn't work as good as it did when it was 40 and now it's 20 and it's not getting.
Speaker A:But I think I've got the best gift here.
Speaker A:If you didn't do the jumpstart right, Johnny, I can see this.
Speaker A:So, Johnny, you're not paying attention to the instructions.
Speaker A:You pull the leads off the jump starter, you put it in your pocket, 4,000amps of power crack off in your back, and this next gift is ready for you.
Speaker A:The Cardio mobile One lead personal EKG monitor.
Speaker C:It's just, it's only going to tell me I'm in trouble.
Speaker C:Then I got to use the jump starter to get myself back up off the ground.
Speaker A:Well, wait a minute, wait a minute.
Speaker A:The jump starter is not a defib device.
Speaker A:You don't just put.
Speaker C:Are you sure?
Speaker C:Have you tried it?
Speaker A:Not yet.
Speaker A:Not yet.
Speaker A:But I think.
Speaker C:Where's Steve O when you need him?
Speaker C:He'll give it a whirl.
Speaker A:Brutal.
Speaker A:But the Cardio mobile One lead personal EKG monitor, basically what this is, it's a medical device you can get for $67, you can literally put your thumbs on this thing or your fingers on this thing and it will give you a medical ekg.
Speaker A:One lead EKG from home.
Speaker A:So I think it's a really good first aid thing if you've got, if you're a workout person or you are sitting there, you know, maybe people in your house could be a good thing to have just charged up ready in your go bag.
Speaker A:But I think a, it definitely, it'll detect afib and other common arrhythmias from home.
Speaker A:So if you're having.
Speaker A:Wow, my heart's not feeling right.
Speaker A:Open the app up, touch your fingers on this, records it, and it'll tell you what's going on.
Speaker C:Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker C:Pretty amazing.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:Basically, you just throw it on the countertop, it shows here, and you just put your two fingers on it, hold it down, it'll run that, and then you'll see.
Speaker A:And, you know, you hear it on the radio all the time for 79 or 99, and they got it on here for 67, which is pretty cool.
Speaker A:So, you know, why not?
Speaker C:Ever since Kovid has gotten some weird heart stuff, man.
Speaker C:And this, that'd actually be really slick for her.
Speaker C:I would be too scared.
Speaker C:I'd never use it.
Speaker A:Yeah, you don't want to know, though, brother.
Speaker C:I know you don't want to know.
Speaker A:Dude, but it's FDA cleared, so this is not some, like, little snake oil kit.
Speaker A:This is actually the real deal.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:For real.
Speaker C:That would be great for my mom.
Speaker C:She's gone to the doctor a couple of times thinking she's having heart attacks over the last couple of years just because she got Covid so severely.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:And did affect it.
Speaker C:It did affect her heart, and they had some concerns.
Speaker C:But this could have saved her a couple of trips.
Speaker C:That would have been super handy.
Speaker C:What a great idea.
Speaker A:Yeah, it's really cool.
Speaker A:I've heard on the radio be advertised.
Speaker A:And when I was doing my deep dive, I went, hey, that's a cool one.
Speaker A:That's a cool one.
Speaker A:So I like, actually go ahead.
Speaker C:We just said that.
Speaker C:We just went to the emergency room the other day.
Speaker C:Kat was walking down the street and was like, got dizzy and felt weird, and I got her straight in the taxi.
Speaker C:We went to the hospital, but like, it was that she said, heart feels weird.
Speaker C:I feel dizzy at that.
Speaker C:That would have been super handy.
Speaker C:67 bucks instead of.
Speaker C:Well, doctors are cheap down here.
Speaker A:But I was gonna say here's your.
Speaker C:1500 bucks just to go get that hooked up in the doctor.
Speaker C:So spending 67 bucks and save yourself the trip.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's definitely cheaper than your co Pay is probably going to be for most people out there.
Speaker A:For most people.
Speaker A:Johnny, I want to hear your list here.
Speaker A:What do you have for maybe or experience?
Speaker A:What do you say people should maybe think about maybe not getting family members or loved ones for the holidays?
Speaker C:I will tell you a quick childhood trauma that I survived and learned from.
Speaker C:It put a great impression on me.
Speaker C:My.
Speaker C:My grandpa one year.
Speaker C:Well, my grandma and grandpa were like this, but my grandma probably all year heckling the poor dude.
Speaker C:I want a new vacuum I need a new vacuum.
Speaker C:I need a new vacuum.
Speaker C:Grandpa thinks he a great idea.
Speaker C:She's gonna love this new vacuum.
Speaker C:It's got every contraption and every magic switch you could imagine.
Speaker C: This is: Speaker A:So it's probably a vacuum trap.
Speaker A:Go ahead.
Speaker C:And my grandma cried and didn't speak to him for three days.
Speaker C:So don't get your wife a vacuum.
Speaker C:It will not go over well no matter how much she wants a new vacuum.
Speaker C:That is not a Christmas present.
Speaker C:That is a mandatory obligation that you as a man need to purchase for the household.
Speaker C:Not for Christmas.
Speaker A:It's like getting the lawnmower.
Speaker A:The guy goes, it's a lawnmower.
Speaker C:Thanks.
Speaker C:Is that a hint?
Speaker C:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker A:That's just a.
Speaker A:It's.
Speaker A:It's not a tool for the collection.
Speaker C:Yeah, it's not cool.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:I mean, it's the.
Speaker A:Even then there was plenty of sexist back notes on that.
Speaker A:That could be fence too, even 40 years ago.
Speaker A:50 years ago.
Speaker A:So I get that.
Speaker A:I think the other trap is.
Speaker A:And you and I have talked about this before.
Speaker A:Oh, we're not going to get each other gifts this year.
Speaker C:The no gift.
Speaker C:The no gift mind read that you're supposed to pull off.
Speaker C:Dude, I legit don't do it.
Speaker C:I legit don't do it.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker C:No gifts.
Speaker C:No gifts.
Speaker A:Cool.
Speaker C:And then you're in trouble.
Speaker C:And I'm okay with being in trouble.
Speaker C:Dude, you said no gifts.
Speaker C:I don't know how to read your mind.
Speaker C:Forget it.
Speaker C:No gifts is no gifts in my book.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:And that's the whole family.
Speaker C:That's not just like your gal or your wife.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:The whole family pulls that trip.
Speaker A:Right.
Speaker C:And then there's always the uncle that shows up with a little something for everybody.
Speaker C:So you feel like a big jerk.
Speaker C:You said no gifts.
Speaker C:What?
Speaker C:Oh.
Speaker C:But yeah.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:And the problem is, is families get bigger.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:It's crazy.
Speaker C:Can't get everybody a gift.
Speaker C:Even if it's five bucks.
Speaker A:Suddenly it's, you got 100 bucks going.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:200 bucks.
Speaker C:You're like, come on.
Speaker A:It's crazy, man.
Speaker A:You're sitting there.
Speaker A:And again, the white elephant can be fun.
Speaker A:When everybody gets together, that can be kind of fun.
Speaker A:There's always that person that breaks the rules.
Speaker A:Okay.
Speaker A:We're to keep it under 35 and someone's got a hundred dollar something in there.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:Somebody buys a trip to Bora, you're like, oh, thanks, dude.
Speaker C:Now everyone's a jerk but you.
Speaker A:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker A:We had rules.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:That's the Thing and again, be very careful.
Speaker A:I think for many people, the more personalized, the more intuitive.
Speaker A:Like gift you can get.
Speaker A:Now, not just the gift card.
Speaker A:A gift card's an easy way, especially if they're out of town.
Speaker A:And like for instance, my son and his wife.
Speaker A:I'm much more likely to get them a gift card because one, if I buy him something, they're four states away and I haven't been through his shop to see what's in his garage.
Speaker A:I'm not asking or get involved.
Speaker A:So sometimes the gift cards can work.
Speaker A:But really, if you really want to be thoughtful, think about it.
Speaker A:Think about something that makes their day better without having to buy them a tool to do.
Speaker A:You don't want to get them a toilet scrub brush or something like that.
Speaker A:That's.
Speaker C:Yeah, I honestly, the thing.
Speaker C:I don't know.
Speaker C:I. Oh, I could go on a whole rant, Eric, but I won't.
Speaker C:I will say that I got way better at feeling no guilt over not buying something for somebody.
Speaker C:If I didn't see something and think of them, I didn't go out buy five pounds of coffee and five coffee mugs for everybody in the family that day when you go to the Christmas party because we don't need it.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker C:You know what I mean?
Speaker C:If I wanted to do something like that.
Speaker C:Go buy somebody lunch who hasn't eaten in two days.
Speaker C:Like I'm not.
Speaker C:You and me, we don't need anything.
Speaker C:My family, we don't want for anything.
Speaker C:And we go around wasting hundreds of dollars on silly petty stuff.
Speaker C:That.
Speaker C:Oh, another Starbucks mug that I break within three months or it sits in my in a box in the garage for three years.
Speaker C:One of the two.
Speaker C:It's wasteful.
Speaker A:Well, take Johnny before we go out and this is like on Father's Day and the same thing for dear old dad or even dear old mom.
Speaker A:If they are a Milwaukee or a Dewalt or what name that.
Speaker A:If they're a tool person that takes their tools seriously.
Speaker A:Please do not go down to the discount store and buy the no name brand of hammer.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker A:They're never going to use it.
Speaker A:They're going to throw it away.
Speaker A:They're now having to keep it because if you come over they want to see it, let you know that they kept it.
Speaker C:Yeah, the 15 piece screwdriver set that's still sealed and you haven't opened because Absolutely.
Speaker C:The first time you use it, it.
Speaker C:Yeah.
Speaker A:Go direction.
Speaker A:If you can't keep up to their level, that's good.
Speaker A:Think about something else.
Speaker A:Maybe get some.
Speaker C:There's a gift card idea, right?
Speaker C:Hey, I may love tools.
Speaker C:Here's Home depot gift card because I can't afford a whole table saw.
Speaker C:But here's towards, here's 50 bucks towards your table saw or go buy a.
Speaker A:New blade for the one you got or whatever that is.
Speaker A:Let's not we the last thing you need is more clutter and crap out there.
Speaker A:Get something went out some nice warm socks.
Speaker A:I don't know.
Speaker C:Socks are my favorite still.
Speaker C:Mom gets them for me every year.
Speaker C:My favorite present every year, socks.
Speaker A:There we go.
Speaker A:That's it right there.
