Musical Guest: Celebrity vocalist Ari Kamin from The Steven Adler Band

I think many who love rock have heard of Steven Adler, the former drummer of Guns and Roses. Live from Argentina we have Ari Kamin right off his tour of the US with Steven Adler's Band. We talk music, DIY, and what it is like living in Buenos Aires and how life is different there compared to the United States. All something a little bit different on our Halloween week celebration.

comes to remodeling and renovating your home, there is a lot to know Welcome to around the house.

[:

[00:00:29] Eric Goranson: to around the house with Eric G and Caroline. Everything around the house. Every single weekend. My shore guest in the studio live from Argentina, RA cowman. New. You are the man. As far as music out there, we are such great fans. Of guns and roses. And you have been touring with Steven Adler. I'm crushing it, my friend.

[:

[00:01:04] Tell

[:

[00:01:10] Ari Kamin: Uh, well, Steven came to Argentina in 2016. Eh, he played with guns and roses. Uh, Here in a big stadium and well, here in Argentina, I used to have two Bens and one was an original material band.

[:

[00:02:05] Ari Kamin: It was Steven saying, Hey man, do you want to show him my band? So for me, I grew up with Steven. Um, I had Ganz. Posters on the walls of my room, you know, so for me it was like a dream. Yeah. It was a dream come true.

[:

[00:02:27] Caroline Blazovsky: like the movie rock star, right. I mean, it totally is

[:

[00:02:42] Ari Kamin: too. Ah, man, he's such a nice guy. I love shit.

[:

[00:02:51] Music: kinda

[:

[00:03:12] Eric Goranson: meant to be great. So how has it like this, uh, this summer tour in the U S and getting to go out.

[:

[00:03:22] Ari Kamin: Ah, yeah, it was awesome here without the Covid situation, it was so long for musicians, you know, and we were really waiting for that situation to be able to connect again where with the audience and. Being able to tour again was so, so nice.

[:

[00:03:58] Ari Kamin: this year. [00:04:00] We played a couple of shows with Sebastian back from skid row. Yeah. We're playing rock Tamber, fast evolve. We played at the Fremont street in Vegas and that was awesome.

[:

[00:04:21] Caroline Blazovsky: saw that I saw that video. It was excellent. The crowd was good.

[:

[00:04:26] Caroline Blazovsky: so much fun. You know how I got connected with you, Ari what's that? Um, my girlfriend is she, we went to the university of Southern California together. She's an excellent guitar. She's and she was at your show at the whiskey.

[:

[00:04:44] Ari Kamin: that was played.

[:

[00:04:53] Caroline Blazovsky: So she was there and she's like, you got to get him on the show. She's like, he's amazing. So that's how you keep, so [00:05:00] a fan came to me and said, Hey, get him

[:

[00:05:06] Eric Goranson: I love the rainbow. There is so much history at the rainbow. That is one of my, uh, Southern California Hangouts, whatever I'm down there.

[:

[00:05:25] Eric Goranson: Yeah, absolutely. It is. Absolutely is. And that's the great part of that. So what's it like, uh, I mean, you're born and raised in Argentina, right? And then coming up to the states has gotta be interesting going between those two countries because both are beautiful in their own way. What's the differences between, you know, living in.

[:

[00:05:52] Ari Kamin: Well, for me, biggest difference, Vietnamese decision and Turing is that [00:06:00] in the states, you get a lot of big cities here in Argentina. We have one of Cyrus. It's our biggest city.

[:

[00:06:37] Music: competitive right.

[:

[00:06:39] Music: for

[:

[00:07:08] Ari Kamin: A couple of big highways and everything, but it's not the same heater, you know,

[:

[00:07:22] Ari Kamin: Tour in the states.

[:

[00:07:33] Caroline Blazovsky: And I was like, wow. Oh, that's so cool. He's there. Or he was in St. Louis or wherever you were. It was great. Yeah.

[:

[00:08:01] Eric Goranson: That's great. So what's new for you guys. You guys going to be doing some new music. Are you resting up for the next tour or are there any big plans coming up that you can talk about? Uh,

[:

[00:08:18] Eric Goranson: amazing. Yay.

[:

[00:08:31] Ari Kamin: We are recording. So I, I can't wait to be there to be, to have the record, Don, you know, I, I want a tour and for Sam, the raper bath rails steel on the process.

[:

[00:09:03] Eric Goranson: Wow. So that's how big Dokken was Metallica actually opened for him.

[:

[00:09:11] Eric Goranson: So that was back in the eighties during the monsters of rock tour, it was. There were two and around together. So it was, um, kingdom come was the opening band and then Metallica and then doc. And then, uh, beyond Dokken was the scorpions and van Halen with Sammy Hagar.

[:

[00:09:34] Eric Goranson: good lineup back in the day. But go ahead, Caroline, go ahead. I didn't mean to cut you off.

[:

[00:09:39] Caroline Blazovsky: So I'm going to ask, cause we're a home improvement show and everybody asks us. Okay. So what home improvement are we going to talk about? So one, tell me a little bit about houses in Argentina. And are you a home improvement guy?

[:

[00:10:00] trick

[:

[00:10:03] Ari Kamin: I don't know. I'm not the best at making home improvements. Yeah.

[:

[00:10:51] Music: Hey, I like it. I'll think Mary, every

[:

[00:11:02] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. How about houses? How do houses differ in Argentina than here? So building-wide,

[:

[00:11:22] Ari Kamin: Used to walk the streets. And when I see construction and everything, I am amazed by how you guys do do it because you're, we use concrete and all heavy materials, you know? And, and I think that's the big difference between the houses here. Maybe here in one of Cyrus where I live. I think it's more like in New York, I've never been to New York.

[:

[00:12:02] Ari Kamin: from what I've seen. I think one of Cyrus is more like New York than other cities they're in the states, but I don't know what I'm, when I'm walking around LA or Wisconsin or everywhere, there's. Space, uh, between one house and the other. There's a lot of land and they back yards and everything. And hearing one of the Cyrus, you got one house next to the other one.

[:

[00:12:51] Eric Goranson: Yeah. I, I noticed that I've never been down that far south. The farther south I've been is El Salvador. But it was something that I noticed there as well as that [00:13:00] in central America, at least that, uh, you didn't have the big yards, but it was, uh, a concrete block or a concrete house that's built and they're just right up against each other.

[:

[00:13:14] Caroline Blazovsky: How about for like air conditioning and stuff like that. I mean, do you have central air? Do you run or open windows more there? Yeah,

[:

[00:13:35] Ari Kamin: We have. Eh, it's um, if you have air conditioner, you have one air conditioner in your bedroom, and then you have another air conditioner in your living room, but we don't have the central air conditioned air.

[:

[00:14:03] Caroline Blazovsky: And I'm like,

[:

[00:14:07] Ari Kamin: yeah. I like the fan. You know, when, when it's hot, I like to have the open window and maybe the fan.

[:

[00:14:16] Caroline Blazovsky: That's why you're good at touring because that's what it's all about. Open air and a fan.

[:

[00:14:23] Music: though.

[:

[00:14:33] Eric Goranson: So you guys got some, of course new buildings, but you've got some of those, you know, 200 plus year old buildings down there that are, that are look like they're made of stone that are absolutely beautiful.

[:

[00:15:00] Ari Kamin: So yeah, we have big and beautiful buildings and. I don't know when a Saturday is a really big city. Like I will say like half of Argentina lives in one of Cyrus. So they're all, all concentrated in one, a five.

[:

[00:15:30] Eric Goranson: That's not a short plane ride down there. Isn't

[:

[00:15:45] Caroline Blazovsky: like me to go to Hawaii from New York and that's like far and I love Hawaii, but

[:

[00:16:01] Ari Kamin: It's kind of, and then if you add five more hours, you will be in Argentina and the other side of the globe, you know,

[:

[00:16:17] Ari Kamin: Yeah, this is great. And so huge.

[:

[00:16:35] Ari Kamin: Yeah. The south of Argentina is really beautiful.

[:

[00:16:54] Eric Goranson: do. So is there one band that you would like to play out there? I [00:17:00] got this question for a what's.

[:

[00:17:10] Ari Kamin: Uh, I will love to go into with Aerosmith.

[:

[00:17:33] Ari Kamin: favorite. Damn.

[:

[00:17:57] Eric Goranson: I had not seen them in forever, so that was fun. [00:18:00] Um, I'm a big Duff McKagan fan on base. So I've got actually one of his bases that I own. Yeah, which is cool, but last I've got a huge wide range of music. So for me personally, I like rock punk rock. I get into blues, um, you know, and even jazz. So I get all over the place on the music thing

[:

[00:18:20] Caroline Blazovsky: be shocked.

[:

[00:18:22] Ari Kamin: go ahead.

[:

[00:18:44] Caroline Blazovsky: So obviously I love Eddie van Halen and I had this photo. It was like a poster that I had taken and I just had it framed. I mean, it's massive and it's over my bed and it's so great. And every morning I wake up and I'm like, Yeti, love you, baby.[00:19:00]

[:

[00:19:19] Eric Goranson: we're just seeing them out

[:

[00:19:32] Eric Goranson: That's great. I got to see, I've gotten to see buddy guy a few times. You know, who's a great blues legend and got to meet him. I ended up, uh, showed up in Chicago at his club one night, just to see who is playing in the blues band. And he was in there. And so he ends up sitting at our table all night and buying drinks and jumping up on stage and playing with those guys coming back and forth.

[:

[00:20:02] Eric Goranson: Yeah, always good. So when are you hitting the studio again now in a few weeks? Are you

[:

[00:20:41] Ari Kamin: So we thought the decision was too much for me to stay there for the whole summer tour. So now I'm staying. I've been everywhere. I've been everywhere, Pennsylvania. I been in DC. I've [00:21:00] been in Dallas, LA. I have a lot of friends and I even, yeah. I spend a lot of time visiting my friends. So it was a cool experience for me, you know?

[:

[00:21:29] Eric Goranson: We'd like to do Ari. Why don't we do this? When you get some new music out, let's get you back on again. And, uh, we'll play it. We'll listen. And, uh, it would be great to have you, you know, like record an intro.

[:

[00:21:47] Ari Kamin: Yeah. We'll have to do that. Yeah. That will be amazing.

[:

[00:22:01] Eric Goranson: It's great here in, uh, you playing with those guys and having a good time.

[:

[00:22:26] Ari Kamin: And I dunno, I have like, I have chills just think about it. I

[:

[00:22:33] Caroline Blazovsky: it's like, you just can't even imagine it's a gift to pinch yourself to say, oh my God, this is just happened to me. You know?

[:

[00:22:52] Eric Goranson: Thank you so much. Now let's wrap up this interview with one of his songs. This song is called lethal dose and I am Eric G and I'm [00:23:00] Caroline B and you've been listening to [00:24:00] Around [00:25:00] the [00:26:00] House .
