Speaker A:It's around the House on this episode of around the house.
Speaker A:Cool.
Speaker A:Now we've been talking about the best of the NAHB International Building show on the building side of things.
Speaker A:So we were just talking about the best, the window and door finalists.
Speaker A:Now there is one thing on here that I thought was really cool, the Zen door glass line by novatech.
Speaker A:And I spent some time over at their booth taking a look at this stuff.
Speaker A:And if you've never heard of novatech, they are a company that builds garage doors and front entry doors that match, which is pretty cool when you can get those things back together.
Speaker A:Now there's Zen, which is a door glass that has a wood look inside of it.
Speaker A:So if you want, when it comes to remodeling or renovating your home, there is a lot to know and we have got you covered.
Speaker A:This is around the house.
Speaker A:Welcome to the Round the House show, the next generation of home improvement.
Speaker A:I'm Eric G.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining me today.
Speaker A:If you want to find out more about us, head over to aroundthehouse online.com and of course, this hour is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills.
Speaker A:A little secret here, guys.
Speaker A:They have a brand new line of grills coming up later this month that you do not want to miss.
Speaker A:And if you want to find out more, check them out@monument grills.com for that sneak peek.
Speaker A:Today I thought let's talk about what happened here at the end of February that I just got back from last week.
Speaker A: Design and Construction Week: Speaker A:This show had over 100,000 people that showed up.
Speaker A:It's about 2 million square feet and it takes up every square inch of the Las Vegas Convention center, the south hall up Lower Central North West.
Speaker A:I walked about 29 miles that week checking out the booths, checking out stuff and talking to some amazing people.
Speaker A:But one of the things that I like to cover that I thought, let's talk about it this week is the best awards for Design and Construction week, which is two different organizations.
Speaker A:It's the International Builder show from the national association of Home Builders and K Biz which is from the NKBI nkba.
Speaker A:And that is of course the kitchen and bath industry show that is commingled into one massive show.
Speaker A:Each one of those two organizations has their own best of awards.
Speaker A:And these are usually many cool things that have started out.
Speaker A:And I thought, let's talk about these.
Speaker A:I saw a lot of the runners up and a lot of the people that were nominated.
Speaker A:I didn't make it over to the awards because I was doing a radio show at the time, which you'll hear in an upcoming week.
Speaker A:But let's talk about the best of IBS in the award winners in the first couple segments and then of course the last couple segments.
Speaker A:Let's talk about the best stuff on the kitchen and bath industry side.
Speaker A:So this is cool.
Speaker A:So the most innovative construction tools.
Speaker A:One of my friends, actually there's two people on here that I really liked and these are people that have been on the around the house Northwest show a few times and we've had them on this show as well.
Speaker A:IQ Vice system, which is my favorite vice.
Speaker A:I have this in my shop here.
Speaker A:It is an amazing tool.
Speaker A:And don't go to Amazon and buy the knockoff ones that love to break.
Speaker A:You want to buy the real IQ Vice system.
Speaker A:So they were there.
Speaker A:Lockjaw Ladder Grip.
Speaker A:My buddy Craig, I finally got to meet him face to face which was totally awesome.
Speaker A:And I've talked to him, you know he's out of Australia, but got to see him and his wonderful wife stopped by the booth and saw those guys and there were other people there.
Speaker A:So company cam Clear Lock.
Speaker A:And so that there were two winners for the most innovative construction tool finalist.
Speaker A:First one is Clear Lock.
Speaker A:C L E A R L O C.
Speaker A:This is not my favorite tools, but this is a push to connect fitting system.
Speaker A:But it is see through.
Speaker A:That way you can make those connections 50% faster than regular push to fits.
Speaker A:Now here's the thing.
Speaker A:I'm not a big fan of push to connect fittings for obvious reasons.
Speaker A:I have seen failures.
Speaker A:Now these guys from Legend, they actually did some serious testing on it and.
Speaker A:And I like it.
Speaker A:So here's the thing with this product.
Speaker A: pressures that exceed ASSE's: Speaker A:So I do like that.
Speaker A:So these are certifications for behind the wall use and that's not a bad deal.
Speaker A:So I do like the tube compatibility on this.
Speaker A:So you can use PAX Copper, CPVC and PE rt.
Speaker A:So you just have to prepare it accordingly.
Speaker A:They do come with a 25 year product warranty and I'm not a big push to connect person, but I do get there are some things out there in the world that make things easier.
Speaker A:And I really like push to connect fittings for temporary pieces only.
Speaker A:But that's just me.
Speaker A:So they were one of the two runner ups here, which I thought was pretty cool.
Speaker A:And then of course the other one, which I love this Guys, this is really cool.
Speaker A:When I see stuff a year ahead of time and they win and who was it?
Speaker A:This is what's cool.
Speaker A:IQ Vice system by Work IQ Tools.
Speaker A:These guys, this system is amazing.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:And for about 279 bucks, this gives you infinite positioning and it's durable metal and something that's got a five year warranty.
Speaker A:It is solid.
Speaker A:They've got a ton of accessories that go with it from different jaws.
Speaker A:They've got a hands free system and with three bench mounts it is amazing.
Speaker A:It is way better than I thought it would be.
Speaker A:And I tell you what, it is a great system.
Speaker A:So take a look at that.
Speaker A:Go workiqtools.com for those guys.
Speaker A:So congrats to Clearlock and IQ Vice for both of those.
Speaker A:I just love that those guys won.
Speaker A:So nice to see them.
Speaker A:And I'm actually going to see them in another couple weeks at the national Hardware show which is always fun to see those guys there.
Speaker A:Hats off to both of those guys for winning.
Speaker A:Now the most innovative building materialists.
Speaker A:There were a bunch of different companies in there.
Speaker A:There was Flight Stack by View Rail, the Grove Collection by Westlake, Royal Building Products, LG Smart Side Nickel Gap Sighting Lumen Glazing retractable lumen, Westlake Royal Unified Steel stone coated roofing.
Speaker A:Lots of different stuff in here.
Speaker A:Exact color by Sashco.
Speaker A:Great stuff.
Speaker A:Now Blue skin VP tech by Henry.
Speaker A:The one that won most innovative building material finalist was Typar Clear acrylic flashing by Typar.
Speaker A:Now there was a lot of different flashings out there, but I tell you what, I do this clear flashing tape and here's why.
Speaker A:Sometimes you don't want to see what's going in behind there, especially if you've got things going on behind it.
Speaker A:So the cool thing with a clear flashing is it's a strong solution that's going to be really waterproof, self sealing and you can even put it in under cold conditions.
Speaker A:But if you've got a backing material back there that you're trying to seal up and you want the color to come through and not see a black, a green or whatever else, this is super important and I like that it's seeing it.
Speaker A:You can see what's going on behind it.
Speaker A:It's really going to make sure for windows and doors that it's done correctly and you can't hide anything beneath it.
Speaker A:I do like that from Typar.
Speaker A:That is a great one right there.
Speaker A:Now the next one here, I thought this was cool.
Speaker A:Best window and door product finalists.
Speaker A:We had the Zen door glass line by novatech.
Speaker A:I tell you what, that was super cool.
Speaker A:We will be talking to Novatech later on.
Speaker A:I love those guys.
Speaker A:I thought this would have been a winner.
Speaker A:We had View Collection Pivot door by Weather Shield Windows and doors.
Speaker A:We had the Clear Acrylic flashing by Typar Roll Up Power pet door by High Tech Power Prep Pet Products.
Speaker A:I have one of those.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:I don't have the WI fi enabled but I do have the high tech pet product door.
Speaker A:It is great.
Speaker A:But the winner for this one here was Clope's Versastack Avante door.
Speaker A:Now this is a garage door that is super cool guys.
Speaker A:What I like about the Versa stack, think of a garage door without a track.
Speaker A:This stacks up overhead so it actually comes up and stacks out overhead where the header is.
Speaker A:So there's no big track overhead.
Speaker A:So I think it's really smart, really cool and it's glass and it goes up and stacks up up top and break.
Speaker A:Basically you can bring the outdoors in and this is a beautiful door that you can go between a garage, between a living space, anything else and it'll hide up in a soffit area above.
Speaker A:And it's really cool.
Speaker A:I got to see this last year as a concept.
Speaker A:This year Clopay's rolling it out.
Speaker A:This is an amazing door system so you gotta take a look at that.
Speaker A:Now when we come back, we're gonna talk about some of the runners up on this because it's worth a mention.
Speaker A:We'll do that as soon as around the House returns.
Speaker A:We'll be right back.
Speaker A:Kids these days, you'll never understand what it's like to play an instrument.
Speaker A:What's up?
Speaker A:This is Stixiedinia and Satchel from Steel Panther and you are listening around the House with Eric G.
Speaker A:Yeah, we love Eric G.
Speaker A:And you should too.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show.
Speaker A:The next generation of home improvement.
Speaker A:I am Eric G.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining us today.
Speaker A:If you want to send me a message, head over to aroundthehouse online.com and you can take a look over there what we've got going on.
Speaker A:Big website changes.
Speaker A:You got to take a look.
Speaker A:It is going to be a lot of fun with this new website that we've got.
Speaker A:Thanks to our friends over at Site Hype Design.
Speaker A:This is going to be cool.
Speaker A:Now we've been talking about the best of the NAHB International Building show on the building side of things.
Speaker A:Now this hour is brought to you by our friends at Monty McGrill.
Speaker A:Check them out at montymcrills.com so we were just talking about the best, basically the window and door finalists.
Speaker A:Now there is one thing on here that I thought was really cool.
Speaker A:The Zen door glass line by novatech and I spent some time over at their booth taking a look at this stuff.
Speaker A:And if you've never heard of novatech, they are a company that builds garage doors and front entry doors that match, which is pretty cool when you can get those things back together.
Speaker A:Now there's Zen which is a door glass that has a wood look inside of it.
Speaker A:So if you want like that black look but you want a, a strip of, let's say something that looks like walnut in the glass, check them out.
Speaker A:Group Novatech.com I'm gonna put these links up on our website so you can find them there.
Speaker A:This stuff is super cool.
Speaker A:I love it.
Speaker A:And we're gonna have some fun with this stuff here.
Speaker A:I will share these things up in the show notes on the podcast as well so you can catch it there if you're a podcast listener.
Speaker A:And in the other hour here in the first hour and we were talking with our friends over at Dal Tile, make sure you catch the podcast there as well because there's about 20 minutes that didn't make it into the radio show and that is typically a premium episode.
Speaker A:But I'm going to give that one to you so you can catch it all on the podcast without paying the $4 a month.
Speaker A:You can check it out there.
Speaker A:So anyway, take a look at the novatech glass.
Speaker A:It is super cool and I thought that was really fun.
Speaker A:And of course if you have dogs and you have a pet door going outside, there's nothing better than a smart one.
Speaker A:So when the dog walks up to the door, their collar sets it up, opens it out.
Speaker A:So there's none of those problems like you see at home alone with somebody coming in.
Speaker A:Dog door.
Speaker A:That is a sealed up dog door that someone's going to be have an easier time breaking a window coming through the dog door.
Speaker A:So that is super cool.
Speaker A:Now let's talk about some of the best outdoor products because I know we're going to run out of time here.
Speaker A:There are some great stuff out there.
Speaker A:So we had Thermacell live by ThermoCell repellents.
Speaker A:This stuff was super cool.
Speaker A:Spent some time talking with them.
Speaker A:This is if you have mosquitoes that are in your area outside.
Speaker A:Basically it is a smell free, odor free repellent system for going around your entire yard that keeps those mosquitoes away.
Speaker A:The other Stuff what we had on here.
Speaker A:Street Leaf solar powered street lighting solution.
Speaker A:Radiant floor by Emsertile Matte Black hot cold hydrant by Accor Water Systems.
Speaker A:I love those guys.
Speaker A:Aqua water systems.
Speaker A:Great stuff.
Speaker A:Take a look at those guys.
Speaker A:Lockjaw ladder grip.
Speaker A:Of course my friends over there, if you've got a ladder that you're and gutters on your house, pick up one of those.
Speaker A:That is a great safety device.
Speaker A:Instadck by Moisture shield.
Speaker A:And the winner was Adorn Stone.
Speaker A:But that's how it goes.
Speaker A:I would have much rather seen thermacell or lock child ladder grip be the winner or even a core Aquor water systems win that one.
Speaker A:So the other thing that's interesting is IBS also jumped over to the kitchen of bath side and they have their best kitchen and bath product finalists.
Speaker A:So they had a couple ones here.
Speaker A:The acrylic Haven Hammock bath by The Hammock Bath Company.
Speaker A:30 inch transitional series Combi wall oven by Signature kitchen and bath.
Speaker A:36 inch flex induction cooktop by Signature Kitchen Suite.
Speaker A:LG counter depth max refrigerator with zero clearance by LG and quiet warmth by MT Global Products.
Speaker A:The winner here and we'll just go quickly through this so we don't lose too much time.
Speaker A:The acrylic Haven Hammock bath by the Hammock Bath company.
Speaker A:This is a cool bathtub that you got to take a look and see.
Speaker A:And just like the name, it's a hammock looking type thing.
Speaker A:So it's meant for you to just go in there.
Speaker A:And it's an acrylic freestanding bathtub with posts, a square edge that makes it look like a hammock.
Speaker A:I saw this last year, end of last year.
Speaker A:It is a great one and looks super cool.
Speaker A:Now let's go to the best indoor product finalists.
Speaker A:We had RL Smart WI Fi Dual zone downlight by Cooper Lighting.
Speaker A:Quiet warmth by MP Global Products.
Speaker A:Oil Plus 2C by Rubio Monocoat which is a finish kitty Smart smoke and carbon monoxide alarm with ring by Kitties.
Speaker A:And the winner for best interior product for indoors is a smart sensing supply fan that goes from 30 to 200 cfm that's got humidity and temperature control by Delta Electronics.
Speaker A:Now there was a lot of these kind of companies sitting around there and what this is, they call it the Delta Breeze Fresh is a DC Fresh Air Supply fan rated for 30 to 200 CFM offering quiet energy efficient operation.
Speaker A:So it provides home builders, contractors and building developers with economical and smart ventilation solutions.
Speaker A:So basically supply balanced and Filtration all in the same time.
Speaker A:Super cool.
Speaker A:To find out more, go Delta Breeze.
Speaker A:B R E E Z dot com.
Speaker A:That is another cool product there.
Speaker A:Now this is where I get excited here for best home tech product finalists.
Speaker A:And the winner of that was Frontline Wildfire Defense.
Speaker A:And I love this because we need more of this stuff and I'm talking to a few companies, we're going to bring them on the show to talk more about this.
Speaker A:But the Frontline Wildfire Defense system brings together purpose built hardware and powerful software in one complete package so you can confront wildfire season with confidence through a smart mobile app.
Speaker A:So it is a whole system designed to go through and be ready for that Wildfire.
Speaker A:So I love that these guys have got something there and I think it's super cool.
Speaker A:And we'll talk a little bit more about this.
Speaker A:Now.
Speaker A:Best energy efficient product finalists had a lot of stuff on here and there was a lot.
Speaker A:There was heat pumps, lots of inverter heat pumps, a lot of different things in here.
Speaker A:Whole house electrification, the span panel.
Speaker A:This is a new kind of indoor breaker panel.
Speaker A:So unmatched visibility into your home's energy, it goes through.
Speaker A:It is a smart panel for your home.
Speaker A:Now my only problem that I have with these type of things and again I want to make sure these companies are out there.
Speaker A:But the smart solutions.
Speaker A:When it comes to an electrical panel, I'm very concerned because electronic tech changes so often.
Speaker A:I'm concerned about putting something smart in because even light switches will change from time to time and you have to upgrade them.
Speaker A:I don't want to have to do a panel replacement down the road because the tech changed.
Speaker A:We have a bad enough that electrical panels can cost you thousands and thousands of dollars to swap out.
Speaker A:I don't want it to be outdated and then all of a sudden the tech is old and we've got issues.
Speaker A:So that's my biggest concern with a product like that.
Speaker A:Now that was best energy efficient product finalist Best business solution.
Speaker A: ing to get into that, but the: Speaker A:I love that.
Speaker A:That was the best product at the show by the voters that voted.
Speaker A:And that door was amazing to see last year and it's worth taking a look.
Speaker A:Thanks to my friends over at Clopay.
Speaker A:They're a great garage door company.
Speaker A:One of my favorites to work with out there.
Speaker A:I've got one in my house and that is super awesome.
Speaker A:Now when we come back, we're gonna Be talking about the best on the kitchen and bath side.
Speaker A:We'll do that just as soon as around the House returns.
Speaker A:Don't go any.
Speaker A:Not from you, not from anybody.
Speaker A:Hey, this is Ron Keel, the metal cowboy from Keel, the Ron Keel Band and Steeler.
Speaker A:We are rocking around the House with Eric G.
Speaker A:Raise your fist.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show, the next generation of home improvement.
Speaker A:I'm Eric G.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining me today.
Speaker A:We've been talking about the best products that we're seeing that were voted on by the judges at the Design and Construction Week show here about a week or so ago in Las Vegas.
Speaker A:Now this show is so hard to see.
Speaker A:There's no way for you to get in there and walk the show in three days to see all the stuff that's there.
Speaker A:So it takes a lot of work.
Speaker A:And sometimes I like these awards because I get to see stuff that there was no way for me to go see physically.
Speaker A:Especially if you talk with people there and you're chatting with people that you want to go there and meet.
Speaker A:Saw a lot of great stuff.
Speaker A:We'll be talking about that in the future.
Speaker A:But these awards really highlight new products out there that people ran into and saw.
Speaker A:And the Best of kbiz, they've got some judges that they used.
Speaker A:I know one of them, Alena Capra from Elena Capra Designs.
Speaker A:I've judged many of a new product thing with her before and there's a lot of different judges there that are part of this, which was really cool.
Speaker A:But I love all the different stuff out there.
Speaker A:And there was a lot of new products out there for Best of KBIS on that side of things.
Speaker A:And so I thought it was super cool.
Speaker A:And they really did a great job of putting out the best products on the kitchen and bath side.
Speaker A:Now they give these awards away at the end of the show and usually that's about the time that I'm over at Baldwin Hardware doing my show with them.
Speaker A:It's my annual tradition of doing the wrapping up of the show with those guys over in their booth.
Speaker A:So I miss these.
Speaker A:But be honest, I'd rather be sitting over there with Baldwin Hardware having fun with those guys.
Speaker A:So there were a lot of the way they do this on the NKBA or KBIZ side is a little bit different.
Speaker A:So they have a gold award and a silver award and for each one of these categories.
Speaker A:And so some of the stuff that I think was super fun is there's a lot of innovation out there and there's a lot of cool, super Functional things.
Speaker A:Now some of the stuff that was out there that was cool on the Wellness Trailblazer award and this is cool.
Speaker A:The hot cold plunge indoor tub by EMPVA or empava.
Speaker A:Empava I believe that's how it's said.
Speaker A:I am did not get to see this at the show.
Speaker A:Like I said, I couldn't see everything.
Speaker A:But these guys here is what these guys are doing out there from these companies and I think it's pretty amazing because there's a lot of wellness that was in this, in the show this year that you saw this.
Speaker A:And I think what's fun about it is that there's a lot of things that you can do to customize in your own home.
Speaker A:Are most people going to put in a cold plunge tub inside their house?
Speaker A:No, probably not.
Speaker A:But I think it's cool, that's an option for the people that want to do it and I think these are cool things you can do.
Speaker A:So check them out.
Speaker A:Empava and it's a pretty cool indoor tub.
Speaker A:Cold plunge, hot, cold.
Speaker A:So you can do it either way with those guys.
Speaker A:Now Kohler had to jump in and Kohler let me set the stage for how Kohler does their show at the builder show.
Speaker A:Their booth is typically about the size of an acre and they have to spend 10 or 15 million dollars in this booth.
Speaker A:It looks like the finest luxury home room to room that they build inside the convention center.
Speaker A:This is absolutely stunning.
Speaker A:They have a DJ playing.
Speaker A:You can hear the Kohler booth from half a mile away inside there because they are always having a good time and it's very hard to get in there and see stuff only because this is what's crazy is they'll put 20,000 people I think in that booth and it's hard to navigate, hard to shoot and it is really hard to get in there and see.
Speaker A:But when you get in there it's always something amazing.
Speaker A:Now this one here, Kohler got into the, into the cold plunge again.
Speaker A:The Kohler and the Remedy Place.
Speaker A:So this is their new dimension in self care and innovative design with the ice bath by Kohler and it's coming out middle of the year and this is really.
Speaker A:Kohler partnered with Dr.
Speaker A:Jonathan Leary, founder of Remedy Place Social wellness clubs to create an ice bath that combines elegant minimalist design and class leading innovation.
Speaker A:Beautiful.
Speaker A:This stuff is striking, gorgeous and you can find more about that over@kohler.com I really like it how it has an integrated timer and really is designed with advanced water filtration.
Speaker A:This is Something that is really cool and it has a wood grain look to it, which makes just.
Speaker A:It's beautiful, it's sexy.
Speaker A:And I think they were a clear gold winner on that one.
Speaker A:And that was super cool.
Speaker A:Now, Kohler also did a scott of silver in the style statement for Kitchen now, what they did over there, and this is cool.
Speaker A:This is the billet kitchen faucet collection by Kohler.
Speaker A:And again, these guys came out with a single handle.
Speaker A:It looks very clean, like a modern steampunk really, where it's super clean billet.
Speaker A:It looks gorgeous.
Speaker A:This is a clean industrial design.
Speaker A:So they basically reimagined industrial design on this, which gives you these raw casting details.
Speaker A:But it's beautiful.
Speaker A:So they have touchless technology.
Speaker A:They've got all the different delicate, soft friends, powerful sweep, all of their trademark stuff in this stuff.
Speaker A:It is gorgeous.
Speaker A:So take a look at that over@kohler.com but again, Kohler comes out with these best products like this and they put some beautiful stuff out there and they're really, really game changing as far as how that goes.
Speaker A:So there's a lot of great innovation that we see now.
Speaker A:Bloom Hardware.
Speaker A:This was awesome.
Speaker A:The most functional find.
Speaker A:And now if you've seen this on social media, and I have worked with bloom for probably 30 years in the industry now my buddy Steve is in the viral video that you see out there where somebody pulls out the toe kick and there's a drawer and a step to step up onto things.
Speaker A:Now, what's funny is every time I see this getting shared across Instagram, Tick, that's my buddy that I've known for 30 years.
Speaker A:And it was so funny, we got to the hotel down there in Las Vegas, went back to, to go to dinner, and walking out the door, there's Steve sitting there at the Uber Lyft, got to say hi, give him a big hug, and got to give him a hard time about being famous on these viral reels.
Speaker A:And it's about the space step.
Speaker A:So this is using the toe kick to create extra storage space and provide a step to get up into those upper cabinets.
Speaker A:And I love how they're doing this because this is what's smart.
Speaker A:The problem that we saw with these things beforehand is they were more of a roller base and they rolled across the floor.
Speaker A:The problem was, is when you have rollers like that moving in and across, if you have hardwood or something leaves marks and it takes the finish off, they designed something with the space step that can hold, it can lock.
Speaker A:It's not a safety issue.
Speaker A:So if you're building kitchen, a kitchen or you're going to build your own cabinets or something like that, guys, take a peek at that space.
Speaker A:Step by Bloom.
Speaker A:Something super cool.
Speaker A:Here's what I saw.
Speaker A:Most of the big H vac companies like Carrier had cold weather heat pumps like Carrier has one that is now Certified to negative 13 degrees for you northerners.
Speaker A:So if you're up there in north and South Dakota, if you're in Maine, if you're in Minneapolis, if you're any of the northern states where you get into the cold negative zero stuff before the emergency heat has to come on, this stuff is certified to work down to negative 13.
Speaker A:So that could be a huge savings for you guys out there when you're looking at putting in a new heat pump.
Speaker A:There were other brands, there's a lot of certifications now that you see out there for this stuff.
Speaker A:But it's super cool to see what it looks like with these new cold, cold weather heat pumps that are certified for working when it's cold.
Speaker A:It's not like it was in the 80s and 90s where when it got to 40 degrees they quit working.
Speaker A:You had to go to emergency heat.
Speaker A:Now you can put that in the sub zero weather and it will take it, which I like.
Speaker A:So a lot of great stuff there with home tech.
Speaker A:Now the other thing that I wanted to talk about here as far as awards, now this was pretty cool.
Speaker A:This the Vera deluxe workstation kitchen sink.
Speaker A:Now there have been a lot of workstation chef sinks out there.
Speaker A:Now what I'm talking about that is I'm talking about the sinks you put in, usually stainless steel or composite under mount and they have all these different trays, bins, things like that, cutting board storage, another one of those good ones.
Speaker A:Now when we come back, we're going to be talking about the rest of the stuff that I saw at the show that I think was super cool.
Speaker A:We'll do that just as soon as around the House returns.
Speaker A:Don't change that top.
Speaker A:All right.
Speaker A:Welcome back to the around the House show.
Speaker A:The next generation in home home improvement.
Speaker A:I am Eric G.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining me today.
Speaker A:As we all know, this segment is brought to you by our friends at Monument Grills.
Speaker A:Check them out@monument grills.com for that brand new barbecue.
Speaker A:I know you need one of those portable barbecues for spring put on the back patio, porch or wherever.
Speaker A: construction week, Las Vegas: Speaker A:And this is the world's largest show for anybody building, where you can go look at roofing, toilets, paint.
Speaker A:Everybody had a booth, and there's a lot of great stuff there.
Speaker A:And I wanted to give the best to show here to you before we get too far.
Speaker A:And that was the Aladdin sauna from basically, the company is fe.it that is the company.
Speaker A:And they do this beautiful sauna that is, as they call it, magical and floating, but it's a study in weightlessness with its different elements appearing to float in space.
Speaker A:Gorgeous.
Speaker A:And they really did a nice job of making this thing be beautiful, and they did a great job in that, and I think it's great for wellness.
Speaker A:And these different products are coming out, and anytime we see people pushing that, I think it's cool.
Speaker A:Now, the one thing that I will say, and this is one of those things that I do have a little bit of a problem with in that in this show, it's like ces at times, they will come out with test products, and I call them design hand grenades.
Speaker A:This is why I call it this, because literally, they come out with a product that they might never build a company does.
Speaker A:They put it out and go, ooh, coming soon.
Speaker A:You might see it, you might never see it.
Speaker A:And they're just testing the water to see what people think.
Speaker A:And that's one of those things that.
Speaker A:That it's meant to grab attention.
Speaker A:It's meant meant to grab people to the booth.
Speaker A:But one of the things that I do is when I walk into booths and I see stuff going, yeah, this is coming out in second quarter.
Speaker A:Boom, it's ready to go.
Speaker A:And I think that's pretty awesome to see.
Speaker A:There was a lot of neat stuff out there across the board.
Speaker A: got to see my friends over at: Speaker A:I love it because it's made in USA and, like, the clothes that I have.
Speaker A: pants that these guys make at: Speaker A:They even source the cotton and the fabrics from here in the United States.
Speaker A:It's super cool stuff.
Speaker A:All made in the Northeast.
Speaker A:Those guys are awesome.
Speaker A:It was great hanging out with them, walking around.
Speaker A:I got to go over see my buddy Dom over at Evolved Stone.
Speaker A:They have the nail on fake stone, basically, so it looks just like stone, but you can use a finished nailer to put it on the wall.
Speaker A:They had a lot of great stuff out there.
Speaker A:I've used that in many projects around the house.
Speaker A:Here it's wrapped around my outdoor kitchen and it tells you how durable it is.
Speaker A:When I can have, next to the barbecue, a white stone look that I can go through there and cook.
Speaker A:And if I drip barbecue sauce down the front of it, it's good.
Speaker A:So you can clean this stuff up so it looks really good.
Speaker A:And I think it's a beautiful product.
Speaker A:Got to see them.
Speaker A:And then I got to go over and see my friends over at Stiletto, the super expensive titanium hammer people.
Speaker A:Those guys, they're owned by Milwaukee Tools now and they are really going back to their roots with Stiletto and they are coming out with a color line of.
Speaker A:Instead of just having the titanium, they've got a new PVA finish that they're putting on there.
Speaker A:I believe it's PVA and it is something that's going to be able to handle everyday job site abuse.
Speaker A:But if you want, like me, I would love to have a matte black hammer.
Speaker A:They're going to make them, and that's what's cool.
Speaker A:And they might be even doing some custom stuff out there in the future.
Speaker A:So stay tuned for that.
Speaker A:Anniversary editions, things like that.
Speaker A:Spent a lot of time with them.
Speaker A:They've got new pry bars out.
Speaker A:A lot of new stuff out there for you people out there doing the trades that are swinging these things every single day now.
Speaker A:There was a lot of that kind of stuff as we moved around.
Speaker A:Went over to Dow Tile, which you heard earlier in the show.
Speaker A:Tons of beautiful colors, new patterns, new textures.
Speaker A:And it's pretty amazing when you see tile that's supposed to look like stone, but it's actually a porcelain and it looks better than the real thing.
Speaker A:So it's pretty easy to look at and go, oh, that's the real thing.
Speaker A:And then you see the real marble that takes a ton of maintenance and is soft.
Speaker A:That doesn't look as good.
Speaker A:So that's a lot of the cool things that we see at the shows, like this novatech, they had that beautiful glass that they had.
Speaker A:They had some really cool contemporary glass options.
Speaker A:They've come out with some new stuff that if that's a door manufacturer, you haven't seen before, it's beautiful.
Speaker A:Lots of different decking, lots of different outdoor products.
Speaker A:I saw other new skylight companies that are coming into the market, which I think is fun.
Speaker A:I stopped by Lowe's, talked to them for a little bit.
Speaker A:They are relaunching their Lowe's pro rewards program and the app to make it simpler for all you pros out there.
Speaker A:That's something super exciting to see as well.
Speaker A:And the list goes on and on.
Speaker A:And van air doors, which we ran again last week, saw their new stuff.
Speaker A:They've got some new stuff that's meant to flow even more air.
Speaker A:Again, if you're looking for a door to move air, that's a great thing.
Speaker A:And so really there was just so much stuff to see.
Speaker A:Even our friends over at Carrier have a system for hydronic heating where it's a heat pump basically that sits outside.
Speaker A:There's no line set, there's no indoor unit.
Speaker A:The water comes out through the wall, goes into the unit outside, the heat pump, heats it and then it basically ticks it back in and is a single solution for heating your home as well as creating hot water.
Speaker A:So it will be.
Speaker A:It will do the water heating and if you had radiant floor heat, it'll do that as well.
Speaker A:So there was a even a heated driveway.
Speaker A:You could go off of that all in a single skew type thing, which was pretty cool.
Speaker A:And if you want to get crazy and customizable with it, we'll have a video coming up on that soon for you to take a look at.
Speaker A:But again, one of those cool things that you can take a look at and go, wow, Excellent, cool products.
Speaker A:And there's one that Baldwin Hardware that we're going to talk about here in upcoming episode and a new smart lock that they got.
Speaker A:We'll tease that for later, but you don't want to miss that.
Speaker A:And I'll be doing some stuff with them on it.
Speaker A:Had a great time with those guys.
Speaker A:And then of course got to see my buddy Peter over at Systeme3e.
Speaker A:These guys have got a new kind of building out there that is fireproof, mold proof, moisture proof.
Speaker A:So what they do is they build these type of blocks that stack up like Legos and you can build it like a brick wall, but they lock together and I think it's super fun.
Speaker A:It's a material that I want to do as a project one of these days.
Speaker A:This is a product that is going to revolutionize using Perlite how we build homes.
Speaker A:They're based out of Poland.
Speaker A:It was great to see him face to face.
Speaker A:This material is awesome.
Speaker A:And it click and snaps together.
Speaker A:So you've got a wall system that is fireproof.
Speaker A:You could put a torch on it for hours.
Speaker A:Not going to hurt it.
Speaker A:Anyway, super cool stuff using a ecological raw material called Perlite.
Speaker A:I use Perlite when I built my outdoor pizza oven.
Speaker A:That's how good this stuff is.
Speaker A:And we'll be able to build quality, sustainable homes easier and quicker with this without having to cut a bunch of trees down.
Speaker A:And that's the cool thing with this stuff.
Speaker A:You can build and stack this stuff up from the foundation up and build a wall in or build the house in a couple days as far as the exterior structure.
Speaker A:And then all you have to do is stuck over the outside.
Speaker A:It's ready to rock.
Speaker A:You got a place that's going to be able to withstand hurricanes.
Speaker A:You can find out more about those guys over at systeme3number3e.com and got to see it and touch it and play with it, which is always fun to do at this show.
Speaker A:And then I got to go over and spend some time with my friends over at Toto usa.
Speaker A:Now I absolutely love Toto.
Speaker A:They are the ultimate toilet sink, bathtub company up there.
Speaker A:So got to do spend some time with all of my friends over there, including Bill Strang from Toto and did a cool interview over there.
Speaker A:We will get to see that coming up a little bit later.
Speaker A:And this is going to be one of those things that's going to be super fun because they have got some great products out there.
Speaker A:Toto unveiled their new concept colors.
Speaker A:They had a bunch of great colors.
Speaker A:We'll talk about that as well.
Speaker A:They redesigned some of their washlet toilet seats, bidet toilet seats, which is awesome.
Speaker A:And we just had a lot of fun over there.
Speaker A:They have a brand new, some brand new bathtubs, some cool stuff.
Speaker A:Just a lot of beautiful new products out there which to me really stands to make things easier to really update stuff.
Speaker A:And basically, Bill is the president of America's operations.
Speaker A:Him and I have a great time out there.
Speaker A:We have a good time doing stuff together.
Speaker A:So it's always fun hanging out with Bill and we have a lot going on with them coming up.
Speaker A:He's just a great dude.
Speaker A:We just, he's just fun and we're always joking around, having a great time.
Speaker A:But I just love working with them.
Speaker A:And of course my friend Charlie who works with them as well.
Speaker A:She is a super good friend and supporter of this show.
Speaker A:So thanks to her, thanks to everyone over at Toto because we just have a blast together that makes for fun content, which I can't wait to share with you all in the coming weeks.
Speaker A:So you're going to get to see a lot of cool stuff happen in there.
Speaker A:We got some great new interviews coming up with some great guests and make sure if you're a listener of the podcast to subscribe to Art around the House.
